A lecture-performance for the winter solstice
The last novel of Hermann Hesse is about a mysterious practice, based on cosmo-poetic analogies: the Glasperlenspiel (“Glass Bead Game”). Essentially, this Game – a sort of “magic theatre” – aspires to be a synthesis of all arts and sciences. Though the rules of the game are never explained, only alluded. In this Game, music has a central role and it is in connection with mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy.
Inspired by this novel, through a mythical method of free associations, the Theatrum Phonosophicum develops a multisensorial performative event for celebrating the winter solstice, that is: the rebirth of Light.

We are looking for people interested in the realization of the multisensorial event DAS GLASPERLENSPIEL (“The Glass Bead Game“) on the 22nd December 2022.Weekly meetings for the collective development of ideas are also planned.
