Join us for an exclusive concert evening featuring Nicholas Isherwood (bass), one of the world’s leading interpreters of contemporary music. He will perform two significant works by the late 20th-century genius, his friend and master Karlheinz Stockhausen.
The evening opens with “Capricorn” (1977), drawn from the astronic cantata “Sirius,” which is based on texts by the Austrian visionary Jakob Lorber. Following this, Isherwood will present “Havona” (2007), the 14th Hour from Stockhausen’s late cycle “Sound,” inspired by the Urantia Book – a text claimed to be channeled by extraterrestrial beings.
On November 14, the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall will be proud to join the ranks of esteemed venues where Isherwood has performed, including La Scala, Covent Garden, Konzerthaus, Concertgebouw, Disney Hall, and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
Throughout his illustrious career, the French-American singer has showcased a diverse repertoire, ranging from medieval to baroque music. He has collaborated with many renowned conductors and orchestras, and has premiered numerous significant works. His engagement with modern music has fostered creative connections with pivotal composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, including Messiaen, Xenakis, Stockhausen, Scelsi, Carter, Kurtág, and many others.
